Did you know there’s a good possibility the candy canes you ate this past holiday season contained a very small amount of Peppermint essential oil?
Candy canes aren’t the only food product that contains these wonderful oils; in fact, they’re used fairly frequently to flavor foods we consume on a regular basis.
The thing to keep in mind when determining whether or not you’re going to ingest essential oil blends of your own making is your familiarity with these complicated oils.
Although most commonly used essential oils are safe to use internally in very small doses, I strongly recommend that you meet with a licensed Aromatherapist or health professional prior to use, so together you can determine the right program for you. Your Aromatherapist may discourage you from ingesting essential oils depending on your medical history and the oils you want to use.
As with all things pertaining to essential oils, I encourage you to educate yourself as much as possible either through research (my FAQ and other blog posts are great resources) or if you would like to fully immerse yourself in the world of Aromatherapy, you can enroll in a certification course. Either way, you’ll feel even more comfortable using essential oils as you further explore their vast benefits and fascinating history.

I have purchased your oils and am wondering if they are all ok for ingesting as long as I follow the protocol you have suggested?
Pure essential oils are extremely concentrated and should only be consumed after meeting with a trained professional. This post is meant to merely provide you with information, not to elicit specific behavior. I recommend meeting with an Aromatherapist and seeing what they suggest for you personally after taking your personal/medical history and discussing the oils that you’re considering using.
So, your oils are safe to ingest ? Are any oils that are safe for ingesting ok in any brand? Since young living and doTerra always clame they are the only ones you can ingest, I just am always curious if that’s a bunch of bull or true.
All pure essential oils, no matter the brand, are extremely concentrated and should only be consumed after meeting with a trained professional. They’ll be able to help you more specifically since they have a greater understanding of your personal/medical history as well as the specific essential oils you would like to use. I would also suggest bringing along the oil to your consultation so you receive the best guidance possible.
I purchased one of your oils, and looking on the bottle, you don’t list the scientific name of the oil. I took a class, and was told that oils should contain both names on them or don’t use them. Most companies do put both. How come you don’t?
Hi Stephanie, I’m so glad to hear that you’ve taken an Aromatherapy course; it’s so important to educate yourself as much as possible before using essential oils! All of our bottles list the “Latin name,” which can also be called the scientific or botanical name. Hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any further questions.
Hey so I just purchased some oils from you and I’m really confused on the feedback about being able to ingest these? I went to an aromatherapy brown bag and they mentioned how their products where 100% pure and fully ingestible. From your responses it seems that there is some yielding factor as to why we should consult a professional about certain if not all oils? Can I simply ingest this or are there abstract effects from it? Please I really like these and with or without the ability to ingest I will use them.=D
Brian, I’m so glad that you’re enjoying our products and taking the time to go to information sessions regarding essential oils. Part of the reason why we suggest that you consult with a trained professional before ingesting oils is that we want to make sure that you are as educated as possible. Since these oils are so highly concentrated, we want to make sure that you are taking every precaution in ensuring your continued health. Every person has a different health history and every oil is composed of different scientific compounds which is why it is particularly important to consult a professional before ingestion.
As far as whether or not you can simply ingest our oils, several factors come into play, such as what oils you are considering because some oils should NEVER be ingested. All of our essential oils are 100% pure and natural therapeutic grade, so most can be ingested in very small amounts. I hope this information helps and let me know if you have any further questions!
Can your oils be used on children (-10 year olds) in specific?
Attention
calm/anger/confidence
Yes Tammy, these oils can be used on children but in lower dilution rates then adults when applying topically. We recommend using 1- 3 drops of essential oil or blends with 1 Tbsp. of carrier oil. (99% carrier oil to 1% essential oil.) For younger children, a diffuser is a particularly beneficial method. If you plan on using with children (especially those under the age of 2), you should consult your physician directly since they are familiar with your child’s medical history.
